Hays is delighted to be working alongside an established Northern Ireland construction contractor in the recruitment of a Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Ballycastle.This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who wants to develop their career with a successful local contractor, working as part of an experienced and supportive team.Whether you are already working at Quantity Surveyor level or are an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to take the next step, this role offers the opportunity to take greater commercial responsibility while continuing to build your experience.

Your new role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play an important role in the commercial management of construction projects, working closely with the wider contracts and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully and commercially.Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing project costs from procurement through to final account


• Preparing valuations and monitoring project expenditure


• Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers


• Assessing variations and managing change throughout the project


• Preparing cost reports and providing accurate commercial information


• Working closely with Contracts Managers, Site Managers and the wider project team


• Managing subcontractor payments and final accounts


• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the lifecycle of projects

This is a varied position where you will have the opportunity to become genuinely involved in the commercial success of projects rather than simply managing figures from behind a desk.

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally hold a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline and have experience working within the construction industry.You should have a sound understanding of commercial management, procurement and construction contracts, alongside strong numerical, organisational and communication skills.Applications are welcomed from experienced Quantity Surveyors as well as ambitious individuals who have gained solid experience at Assistant or Junior QS level and are ready to progress.Above all, you'll be commercially aware, comfortable taking ownership of your workload and keen to establish yourself as an important part of a growing construction team.
