We are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join a friendly school catering team in Oakham on a temporary basis to cover staff sickness until 18th December 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and hardworking individual who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of high-quality meals for pupils and staff
• Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas
• Using kitchen equipment and machinery safely and correctly
• Assisting with deliveries, including loading and unloading stock
• Supporting the catering team to ensure a smooth and efficient service
• Following Food Hygiene and Food Handling regulations
• Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures

About You

• Previous kitchen, catering, or food service experience is desirable
• Able to work effectively under pressure and prioritise tasks
• A strong team player with a positive attitude
• Organised, reliable, and committed
• Flexible and adaptable to changing demands
• Excellent timekeeping and attendance record
• Strong communication skills

Essential Requirements

• 
  Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
  
• Available to start immediately
• Able to commit to the role until 18th December 2026
