Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Apple Recruitment Services are currently seeking an Animal-Grassland Scientist (HSO) on behalf of a public sector scientific organisation based in Hillsborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced agricultural or environmental scientist with a strong background in grassland, animal science or agricultural research to contribute to scientific research within a specialist Grassland Systems Research Unit.

Key Duties

The successful candidate will work as an Animal-Grassland Scientist, supporting the management and delivery of grassland and animal research experiments and contributing to the collection, analysis and reporting of scientific data.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

• Managing and supporting grassland and animal experiments within agricultural research programmes.
• Collecting, compiling and quality-assuring experimental and emissions data.
• Undertaking analysis of research data and interpreting scientific results.
• Supporting the delivery and management of agricultural research trials.
• Preparing scientific reports, technical documentation and research outputs.
• Contributing to the preparation of scientific publications and research papers.
• Supporting research activities relating to sustainable grassland and livestock production systems.
• Working effectively within multidisciplinary scientific and technical teams.
• Applying strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to scientific research.
• Managing multiple research activities and delivering high-quality work within agreed deadlines.
• Maintaining accurate experimental records and ensuring data is collected and managed appropriately.
• Contributing to the wider objectives and activities of the Grassland Systems Research Unit.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have either:

• A PhD in a grassland or animal-related discipline;

OR

• A BSc in Agricultural Science or Environmental Science, together with at least 2 years' experience managing agricultural research trials.

Applicants should also demonstrate:

• Experience of managing or supporting agricultural, grassland or animal research trials.
• Experience of collecting, compiling and analysing scientific or experimental data.
• Ability to interpret scientific data and prepare accurate research reports.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to produce high-quality scientific documentation and research outputs.
• A professional and methodical approach to experimental work and data management.
