Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced Plant/HGV Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and assembling a variety of heavy plant machinery and commercial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure our equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities


Service, maintain, and repair plant machinery and recycling equipment
Work on shredders, shears, scrap handlers, hammer mills, generators, and related vehicles and machinery
Diagnose faults using technical documents and schematics
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
Work efficiently to meet deadlines and operational priorities
Follow all health & safety procedures and company guidelines


Essential Requirements


NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 minimum
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Plant Fitter
Full manual driving licence essential (HGV licence advantageous)
Own toolbox and tools required
Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Experience working on heavy plant and recycling equipment preferred

Please note that this is not a workshop-only position. The role requires hands-on maintenance and repair work across our operational sites, often outdoors in all weather conditions. Candidates must be comfortable working in a dirty and physically demanding environment typical of the metal recycling industry.
