Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be partnering with a highly successful and well-established business in County Down to recruit a Financial Controller. This is a key appointment within the senior leadership team, offering the opportunity to influence business performance, drive strategic initiatives and play a central role in supporting continued growth.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will lead the finance function whilst also playing an active role in the wider commercial and operational success of the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the preparation and review of monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.
- Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
- Providing insightful variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Supporting strategic planning and business decision-making.
- Partnering with operational leaders to drive efficiency, profitability and performance.
- Developing and enhancing financial controls, reporting processes and business systems.
- Managing banking relationships, auditors and external advisors.
- Leading and developing the finance team.
- Supporting investment decisions, grant funding applications and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Playing a key role in business-wide projects and long-term growth plans.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with proven experience operating at Financial Controller level or within a senior finance leadership position.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Excellent commercial awareness and business partnering skills.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Experience driving process improvements and implementing efficiencies.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a genuine interest in supporting wider business operations.
Manufacturing, engineering, construction or project-led industry experience would be highly advantageous.
