Erie sits on the south-central shores of Lake Erie, directly between Cleveland, Ohio; Buffalo, NY; and Pittsburgh, PA. These neighborhoods are close to excellent public and private schools. There are abundant recreational options. There also is a nearby NASCAR track. Local collegiate sports include Gannon University, Mercyhurst College, Edinboro University and Penn State-Behrend.


Outdoor recreation opportunities include Presque Isle State Park beaches, the Seaway Trail along the lakefront and a variety of ski resorts in the area. The region also is famous for growing grapes and produces the third-largest amount of wine in the United States. The Erie International Airport provides daily flights and connections for convenient travel.
