Job description

Nursery Practitioner

Location: Barnsley

Pay: Competitive daily rates

Contract: Temporary

At Reed Early Years, our mission is to empower early-years professionals to build meaningful, rewarding careers. We do this by connecting dedicated practitioners with nurseries where they can make a real difference, supporting learning through play and giving children the best possible start.

We're currently recruiting Level 2 and Level 3 Nursery Practitioners for temporary roles across early years settings in Barnsley. These roles are ideal if you're looking for flexible work, fair pay, and the confidence of knowing you'll be well prepared before you step into a setting.

The role:

  • Supporting daily routines in nursery and early years settings
  • Delivering care and learning through play-based, child-centred practice
  • Encouraging children's development through meaningful play experiences
  • Helping create safe, welcoming, and nurturing environments
  • Working in line with EYFS, safeguarding, and health & safety standards

What you need:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or relevant experience)
  • Experience working in a nursery or early years setting
  • A professional, reliable, and caring approach
  • DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply

Why work with Reed Early Years?

We focus on supporting Early Years professionals properly, not just filling shifts.

  • Flexible work to fit around your availability
  • Ongoing training and development, not just at registration
  • Paediatric First Aid offered as standard, with regular courses available
  • Core training including safeguarding and EYFS support
  • Weekly pay at competitive daily rates
  • A dedicated consultant who understands Early Years settings

At Reed Early Years, we champion safe, high-quality childcare and support practitioners to grow in roles where learning through play, preparation, and professionalism really matter.
