KS1 Teaching Assistant - Primary School
Harrow, HA3
(commutable from Kenton, Harrow & Wealdstone, Stanmore, Kingsbury and Wembley)

£110-£120 per day


Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Long Term Futures is recruiting a confident and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Harrow this September.
This is a classroom-focused position supporting pupils across Key Stage 1, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys helping children build strong foundations in reading, writing and maths.
You'll work closely with the class teacher, supporting whole-class learning while also providing focused help to individuals and small groups who need additional input.

The Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils during daily English, Maths and wider curriculum lessons
  • Lead phonics, reading and early literacy activities with small groups
  • Provide targeted support to pupils working below expected levels
  • Reinforce teacher-led learning through clear explanations and encouragement
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits
  • Support children with additional learning needs within the classroom
  • Prepare resources and contribute to an organised, engaging learning environment
  • Share observations and pupil progress with the class teacher


What We're Looking For

  • Previous primary school Teaching Assistant experience is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of the KS1 curriculum
  • Confidence supporting early reading, phonics, English and Maths
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Patient, proactive and able to build positive relationships with young children
  • Comfortable leading small-group activities independently
  • Reliable and committed to a long-term position from September
