Job description

Our client is looking for a Lead IAM Technical Architect to join a major public sector digital programme, on a long-term engagement running until 31/03/2027.

Key Highlights

  • Role: Lead IAM Technical Architect

  • Domain: Digital / Cyber - Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)

  • Location: Primarily remote, with occasional travel to Swindon

  • Engagement: Inside IR35, via umbrella

  • Rate:£750/day

  • Market: Cyber, within the Public Sector

  • Security Clearance: BPSS (Basic) - or eligibility to obtain it

  • Interview Process: Introductory call, followed by MS Teams interview

What You Will Lead

  • Act as the technical authority for IAM/Iga architecture across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Define and evolve the overall IAM architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with organisational strategy.
  • Work closely with security, infrastructure and application teams to design end-to-end identity lifecycle, provisioning, de-provisioning and governance controls.
  • Provide hands-on architectural guidance around integration patterns, role models, policies and standards.
  • Support the programme in embedding best practice IGA rather than pure access management alone.

What They Are Specifically Looking For

  • Deep IGA expertise - not just access management. Extensive experience with identity governance concepts, processes and tools.
  • A strong architecture background, able to design and articulate complex IAM solutions at both conceptual and detailed levels.
  • Experience in large-scale, enterprise or public sector environments, ideally with complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to provide leadership on IAM direction.

The client is particularly keen to see detailed IGA experience clearly outlined in your CV (tools, responsibilities, scale, types of projects), rather than just listed at a high level. They are not looking for someone focused purely on access management.
