Job Description:
Removals Operative with Cat C1 driving licence
Department: NSH Removals Location: Inverness
Background: New Start Highland is a dynamic and leading social enterprise which creates opportunities for transformation in people's lives. Over the past 25 years New Start Highland has delivered a wide range of social services to transform Highland lives. New Start Highland also operates a number of commercial services to generate income to finance its charitable activities, including a nationwide Removals service. This new post is within the Removals team, delivering an effective Removals and Storage service. You may be required to work away from home and to travel to Scottish Islands with the team.

Purpose of Post
To work as part of the Removals team, delivering an effective Removals and Storage service.
Accountable to
Removals and Transport Manager
Working Relationships
The post-holder will be required to develop effective and positive working relationships with all New Start Highland departments, colleagues and customers.
Key result area
To deliver a high quality, professional removal and storage service to meet departmental KPI's and New Start Highland quality standards.
To deliver an excellent customer experience.
To perform all duties of the post in a professional manner in line with New Start Highland culture and core values.
Main responsibilities
To assist in ensuring that in all aspects of work, New Start Highland's values, policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner.
To maintain confidentiality.
To liaise with staff, volunteers, service users and the general public in a courteous manner that promotes a positive image and upholds the company reputation.
To maintain safe systems of work at all times ensuring quality of service and all relevant Health and Safety and driving regulations are consistently delivered.
To communicate clearly and effectively with other members of the team and the general public
Key Tasks
To drive company vehicles up to and including 7.5 tonnes safely and efficiently ;
To complete commercial removals (including lifting and handling) of a wide range of household and commercial items, whilst delivering excellent customer experience;
To ensure careful handling and efficient packing of all goods and furnishings.
To assist in ensuring that all relevant records are accurately maintained and are available for inspection as required;
To assist with the general maintenance of the vehicles.
Any other duties appropriate to post
Conditions
The post is for full time, 40-hours per week. Hours will be flexible subject to core time being agreed in consultation with the Removals /Transport Manager and will involve occasional evening and weekend work.
There are 32 days annual leave per year inclusive of public holidays rising to 35 days after five years' service. There will be an opportunity to participate in a contributory pension scheme.

This is a physically demanding role which necessitates the requirement to routinely lift and handle heavy items of furniture and equipment. In many domestic and commercial removals heavy items will require to be moved up and down flights of stairs. A good state of physical health is therefore essential.
This post is subject to Enhanced Disclosure "clearance" and Police Scotland checks.
