Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our small kitchen team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food, and maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to develop leadership skills within an award winning kitchen.
Responsibilities
Assist in supervising kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of food preparation and presentation
Support the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including organising work schedules and delegating tasks
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and quality in flavour, presentation, and portion control
Oversee food production processes, maintaining adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
Manage inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and minimise waste
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to enhance their skills and knowledge
Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained properly and report any faults or issues promptly
Collaborate with front-of-house teams to deliver excellent customer service during service periods
Qualifications
Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment
Strong supervisory experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
Solid understanding of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure
Previous experience in food production, culinary arts, or hospitality is highly desirable
A recognised culinary qualification or relevant vocational training is advantageous
