Job Overview
The Head Chef at Shireburn Arms is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within the establishment.
This position requires a highly skilled and experienced professional with a passion for food, team management, and exceptional service delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation while leading and inspiring the kitchen team to deliver an outstanding dining experience.
A strong background in hospitality, restaurant management, and culinary arts is essential to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen and support the overall reputation of Shireburn Arms.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of food preparation and presentation
Oversee all aspects of food production, from sourcing ingredients to final plating, ensuring consistency and quality
Manage daily kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, training, and performance management
Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, catering to diverse customer preferences
Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs to optimise kitchen efficiency
Ensure excellent customer service by coordinating with front-of-house staff during service times
Train staff in food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and serving procedures
Uphold organisational policies related to health & safety, cleanliness, and food handling
Skills
Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment
Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food production and preparation
Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing a team effectively
In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Strong skills in cooking techniques across various cuisines
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
Experience in menu development and innovative food presentation
Good understanding of hospitality operations including serving procedures and customer service excellence
Ability to motivate staff, foster teamwork, and maintain a positive working environment
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
