Job description

We are seeking an Early Years Lunchtime Assistant to join our vibrant team. This vital role involves supporting the well-being and safety of young children during their lunchtime period, ensuring they enjoy a positive, nurturing, and structured environment. As a Lunchtime Assistant, you will play a key part in fostering a cheerful atmosphere where children feel secure and encouraged to develop social skills, independence, and good manners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with children and contribute to their early childhood experiences in a lively educational setting.


Duties


Supervising children during lunchtime, ensuring they eat safely and behave appropriately
Assisting children with opening lunchboxes, utensils, and encouraging healthy eating habits
Supporting children in social interactions, promoting good manners and respectful behavior
Ensuring the safety of all children by monitoring their activities and preventing accidents
Maintaining a clean and tidy dining area before and after meals
Communicating effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff about children's needs or concerns
Encouraging positive play and interaction during outdoor or indoor break times when applicable


Skills


Prior experience working with children in childcare, nursery, or early childhood education settings
Strong management and leadership skills to guide children's behavior positively
Excellent communication skills in English to interact clearly with children, parents, and colleagues
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a lively environment
Childcare knowledge including health and safety procedures relevant to young children
Experience with nursery routines and understanding of early childhood development principles
Valid driving license is desirable for roles involving transportation or outreach activities

Location: Little Shoots Nursery, Trowbridge


Hours: 20 hours per week over 5 days, Term Time Only


Contract Type: Part-time, permanent


Rate of Pay: £12.71 per hour
