Job description


Thayer Internal Medicine, a well-established practice within MaineGeneral Health, is seeking a visionary and collaborative Medical Director /Internal Medicine Physician to lead our high-volume outpatient clinic in Waterville, Maine. This leadership role combines direct patient care across the lifespan with clinical oversight to champion high-quality, patient-centered care.


The Thayer Internal Medicine team strives to improve the health and well-being of our patients and the community as a whole, and we wish to find someone who shares this desire.




Key Responsibilities



Lead Clinical Strategy: Direct clinical operations and implement evidence-based guidelines to maximize patient care quality.

Mentor Medical Staff: Provide leadership, support, and professional development guidance to physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and clinical staff.

Deliver Full-Spectrum Care: Provide comprehensive outpatient internal medicine services to a diverse patient population across all lifespans.

Drive Quality Improvement: Collaborate with healthcare executives to improve performance metrics, streamline workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Foster Collaboration: Maintain a highly communicative, team-based environment within a high-volume practice layout.




Qualifications & Requirements



Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited program.

Certification: Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine

Licensure: Eligible for or currently holds an unrestricted medical license in the State of Maine.

Leadership Style: Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care with prior leadership or administrative experience.
