Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled HGV Workshop Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and optimisation of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. The technician will play a vital part in maintaining fleet reliability and supporting our operational needs.
Responsibilities
Performing routine periodic inspection, service, brake testing and MOT preparation of vehicles and trailers.
Using electronic maintenance platform to schedule, log, analyse, record and store maintenance records.
Diagnosing, repairing and overhauling engines, transmissions, components, electrical and fuel systems etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as vehicles, trailers and refrigeration equipment.
Welding, fabrication and repairs to maintain equipment in good condition.
Managing refrigeration inspection, maintenance and repair to ensure efficient operation and meet the requirements of food product integrity and BRC compliance.
Performing diagnostic procedures on all vehicle systems and determining appropriate maintenance and repairs.
Inspecting completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable safety codes and regulations.
Advising in the selection and ordering of vehicle and trailer parts, metal fabrications material and supplies.
Responding to routine and emergency calls for repair and service.
Sourcing and managing stock of replacement parts.
Skills
Verbal and written communication.
Experience with heavy commercial vehicles.
Ability to work from plans and specifications.
Experience in metal fabrications.
Competence in diagnostic analysis.
Record keeping.
Organisation.
Using hand tools and automotive diagnostic equipment effectively.
Interpretation of manufacturers' specifications.
Pay: £18.54-£27.81 per hour
