Job description

MPA Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of the Northern Health & Social Care Trust for a Support Accountant based at Greenmount House, Ballymena.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a large public sector organisation and play a key role in supporting financial management, budget control and service improvement across operational directorates.

Working closely with the Divisional Accountant, you will provide expert financial support to senior managers, clinicians and budget holders, helping to ensure effective financial management and informed decision making across the Trust.


Key Duties

  • Supporting financial planning, budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Producing meaningful financial reports and performance analysis
  • Assisting with monthly financial monitoring and variance analysis
  • Supporting budget holders to manage resources effectively
  • Contributing to annual budget setting exercises
  • Developing and improving financial reporting processes
  • Supporting efficiency savings and service improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with business cases, service developments and financial appraisals
  • Liaising with auditors and internal stakeholders as required
  • Deputising for the Divisional Accountant when required


Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Full membership of a recognised CCAB accounting body or CIMA
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant finance experience at supervisory level
  • Experience analysing and interpreting financial information using Microsoft Excel or similar analytical tools
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport

You should also be able to:

  • Analyse complex financial data and present findings clearly
  • Influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders
  • Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Challenge and improve financial processes
  • Lead and motivate others effectively


Hours and Pay

  • Monday- Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • £24.45 per hour
  • Weekly Pay
  • Holiday Fund
