Clerical Officer (Band 2)
Location: Belfast
Salary: £13.05 per hour
Hours: Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday
Duration: Temporary
Application Deadline: by 5pm on Mon 15th June.
About the Role We are currently recruiting for a Clerical Officer (Band 2) to join a busy public sector housing administration team.
This role is based within the Housing Centre and supports the Belfast Regional Management Team and Belfast Housing Solutions in delivering key administrative and customer service functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and high-quality administrative support, working across telephony systems, inbox management, and customer correspondence within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Use telephony systems to answer and manage incoming calls
Monitor and manage main inboxes
Draft written responses to customer letters and complaints on behalf of the Business Area Manager
Use triage systems to allocate and manage work requests
Record all outcomes ensuring they are proportionate, legal, auditable and necessary
Make outbound calls to customers to gather information for assessments
Set up and maintain databases using initiative where required
Provide cover arrangements within the office as required
Undertake other relevant administrative duties as needed
Essential Criteria
- IT proficiency (beginner level)
Less than 1 year of relevant experience
- Ability to work on own initiative
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to demonstrate motivation and a proactive approach
Compassionate and customer-focused approach
Ability to take responsibility for accurate and timely completion of tasks
Additional Information
- Access NI clearance required prior to appointment
Role involves working with performance measures to understand and improve business processes
Must be able to ensure outputs are proportionate, legal, auditable and necessary
Flexible approach to cover arrangements and ad hoc duties within the office
