Position Summary


The MetroHealth System is seeking a Program Director (PD) for the Family Medicine Residency. The PD is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and strategic direction of the residency program in collaboration with the chair of Family Medicine. This role ensures compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., ACGME), fosters a high-quality educational environment, and supports the professional development and well-being of residents and faculty.



Program Leadership & Administration




  • Provide visionary leadership for the Family Medicine Residency Program.




  • Oversee day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and program growth.




  • Ensure compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and other regulatory bodies.




  • Maintain program accreditation, including preparation for site visits and annual reporting.




  • Develop and implement program policies, procedures, and curriculum.





Educational Oversight




  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the residency curriculum to meet competencies in:




    • Patient care




    • Medical knowledge




    • Practice-based learning




    • Interpersonal and communication skills




    • Professionalism




    • Systems-based practice






  • Monitor resident performance through evaluations, feedback, and milestone tracking.




  • Facilitate scholarly activity and research opportunities for residents and faculty.




  • Encourage evidence-based practice and lifelong learning.





Faculty Development & Supervision




  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate residency faculty.




  • Promote faculty development in teaching, assessment, and leadership.




  • Ensure appropriate supervision of residents in all clinical settings.




  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.





Resident Recruitment & Retention




  • Lead recruitment efforts, including application review, interviews, and ranking.




  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the residency program.




  • Support resident wellness, engagement, and professional development.




  • Address resident performance issues with timely interventions and remediation.





Clinical Integration




  • Maintain an active clinical practice to model high-quality patient care.




  • Ensure integration of clinical training experiences across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.




  • Collaborate with hospital and clinic leadership to optimize training sites.





Quality Improvement & Compliance




  • Lead program evaluation committees and continuous quality improvement initiatives.




  • Monitor outcomes such as board pass rates, graduate placement, and resident satisfaction.




  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, risk management, and patient safety standards.





Administrative & Institutional Collaboration




  • Work closely with Graduate Medical Education (GME) leadership and institutional officials.




  • Manage program budget and resources effectively.




  • Collaborate with other residency programs, departments, and community partners.





Qualifications:




  • MD or DO with a non-restricted Ohio medical license.




  • Board-certified in Family Medicine.




  • Minimum of 5 years post-residency.




  • Ability to meet MetroHealth credentialing and privileging requirements.
