Job description

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a locum Medical Oncologist to provide coverage at a free-standing cancer center due to the loss of a provider. This role includes both outpatient and inpatient oncology care, with a primary focus on benign hematology and malignant oncology in adult and geriatric populations. The position requires consistent monthly availability and a minimum six-month commitment.

Dates / Schedule


  • No call required during locum assignment




  • If converted to permanent: call is 1 week every 6 8 weeks




  • Availability requirement:




    • 4 weeks of availability per month




    • 4 days per week




    • Minimum 6-month initial contract






  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: 60 days



Job Details & Responsibilities


Practice Setting:




  • Free-standing Cancer Center




  • Outpatient and inpatient oncology coverage




  • EMR: EPIC





Patient Volume:




  • Outpatient: 25 patients per day




  • Inpatient (rounding/call): 20 patients per day





Practice Composition:




  • 65% benign hematology




  • 35% malignant oncology




  • 0% internal medicine




  • 7 physicians in practice




  • 6 APPs providing support





Core Responsibilities:




  • Management of hematology and oncology patients (adult and geriatric)




  • Participation in Tumor Board




  • Management of Bone Marrow Transplants




  • Blood Bank oversight




  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging




  • Prescribing medications




  • Chemotherapy administration (delivered by Nurse Oncologist)



Required Skills & Qualifications


Required:




  • Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology




  • Active South Carolina (SC) medical license




  • BLS certification




  • DEA registration




  • Clean background (required for emergency temps)




  • Availability: 4 weeks per month, 4 days per week, minimum 6-month commitment




  • Self-Query NPDB report (dated within 30 days of presentation)
