JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Emergency Medicine
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Salem, VA
• Service Setting: Hospital Emergency Department
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: ASAP Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: APP Shifts: 6a 2p, 11a 11p, 2p 10p, 10p 6a, 11a 11p PIT

PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults and Geriatrics
• Patient Volume/Census: 45,000 annual ED volume
• Admissions: Yes
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: Emergency Medicine
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Specialty Backup Available: MD/DO coverage onsite
• Support Staff Available: RNs, MD/DOs, APPs
• Reason for Coverage: Coverage need
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: 41 days
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Full scope Emergency Medicine procedures based on experience
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active Virginia license required
• Board: MD/DO must be BC/BE in ABEM or AOBEM
• DEA: Active DEA Certification required
• Certifications: NP/PA must hold NCCA or ANCC certification; ACLS required; ATLS proof once in career for MD/DO
• Experience: Recent Main Emergency Department experience required; no urgent care only or new graduate candidates accepted
• Other Qualifications: Ability to work day, night, and weekend shifts (facility will not accept day-only candidates)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department
• Perform evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with EM standards
• Collaborate with onsite physician team and support staff
• Participate in consults, documentation, and coordination of patient care
• Manage emergency procedures as required within scope
