This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to guide a growing academic vascular program, shape clinical strategy, and expand research and educational initiatives within a nationally recognized health system.

The Chief will lead a collaborative team of six surgeons and seven advanced practice providers, overseeing clinical operations, academic advancement, and programmatic growth. This leader will play a central role in advancing complex aortic care, strengthening multidisciplinary partnerships, and supporting the development of future training programs, including a planned vascular surgery fellowship.

This position offers a deeply embedded academic platform with a faculty appointment at VTCSOM and meaningful engagement across the continuum of medical education. The Section Chief will play a visible leadership role in shaping curriculum, mentoring trainees, and advancing scholarly output within a growing academic health system.

The program is uniquely strengthened by its partnership with the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC (FBRI)-one of the nation's fastest-growing biomedical research enterprises-enabling true bench-to-bedside collaboration. The Chief will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and expand clinical, translational, and outcomes-based research programs in vascular and aortic disease

  • Collaborate across Virginia Tech, engineering, and data science disciplines to drive innovation

  • Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, with the opportunity to help shape a future vascular surgery fellowship

  • Build national visibility through academic productivity, presentations, and funded research initiatives

This is an ideal role for an academically driven surgeon seeking to influence the next generation of vascular specialists while advancing the field through impactful research.
