SUMMARY



Under the authority of the Assistant-Director of IT Services, the incumbent ensures the proper functioning of all activities and services related to information technology. The incumbent installs and maintains software, performs preventive maintenance, diagnoses issues with micro-computers, provides recommendations, and ensures the proper functioning of servers, network connections, and IT infrastructure.


The incumbent contributes to the delivery, stability, and continuous improvement of institutional IT services while maintaining high standards of customer service, operational efficiency, and technical support.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES



Provide technical support to users (35%)

  • Provide technical assistance to administrative staff, professors, and students;

  • Manage user accounts for the network and email;

  • Maintain up-to-date inventories of IT equipment;

  • Install and repair audiovisual equipment for various activities and events;

  • Diagnose software, operating system, hardware, and other technical issues.

Install and update micro-computers and components (25%)

  • Install, verify, and update software on micro-computers;

  • Troubleshoot micro-computers and related components;

  • Recommend, install, and maintain servers and micro-computers.

Maintain IT systems and network environments (15%)

  • Maintain core IT infrastructure, systems, and services required for the University's operations;

  • Provide operational and technical support for institutional administrative, academic, IT security, and business systems; Support the implementation of IT policies and procedures;

  • Monitor and support operation of network components (switches, cabling, etc.);

  • T est and implement system changes;

  • Document installation and user procedures.

Manage the network and its components (10%)

  • Ensure continuous service of the University's network infrastructure and servers;

  • Recommend, install, and maintain network components;

  • Monitor performance, perform backups, diagnostics, and repairs;

  • Ensure system and data security.

Analyze, evaluate and improve systems (10%)

  • Stay up to date on new technologies.

  • Automate and integrate systems requiring programming and the use of development environments;

  • Ensure equipment and software are used effectively;

  • Identify and promote improvements to enhance IT usage;

  • Provide proactive solutions and make recommendations to the supervisor;

  • Participate in short- and medium-term strategic IT planning;

  • Attend IT Reps meetings and collaborate with University of Ottawa IT services.

IT Training (5%)

  • Identify training needs and inform the supervisor;

  • Serve as an resource person for users.

  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor ;

  • Overtime: In emergencies, may be required to work evenings and/or weekends.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • College diploma in computing.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an IT support or technical services environment.

  • Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting for micro-computers, computer equipment and software.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office software, Windows operating systems and knowledge of Apple products.

  • Knowledge of enterprise endpoint management and deployment tools.

  • Knowledge of automation, scripting, and systems integration concepts.

  • Knowledge of enterprise networks and protocols.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and protection of sensitive data.

RESUM‰ DES FONCTIONS



Sous l'autoritİ de l'Assistant-directeur du service de l'informatique, le/la titulaire assure le bon fonctionnement de l'ensemble des activitİs et services liİs aux technologies de l'information. Il/elle installe et maintient les logiciels, effectue la prİvention, rİalise des diagnostics sur les micro ordinateurs, formule des recommandations et veille au fonctionnement des serveurs, du rİseau et de l'infrastructure technologique.


Le ou la titulaire contribue   la prestation,   la stabilitİ et   l'amİlioration continue des services institutionnels en technologies de l'information tout en maintenant des normes İlevİes de service   la client¨le, d'efficacitİ opİrationnelle et de soutien technique.


FONCTIONS PRINCIPALES



Assurer le support technique aupr¨s des utilisateurs (35%)

  • Offrir de l'assistance technique au personnel administratif, aux professeurs et aux İtudiants ;

  • Gİrer les comptes d'usager pour le rİseau et le courrier İlectronique ;

  • Tenir   jour les inventaires de l'İquipement informatique ;

  • Installer et rİparer l'İquipements audiovisuel pour diverses activitİs et İv¨nements ;

  • Diagnostiquer divers probl¨mes de logiciels, matİriels et syst¨mes.

Installer et mettre   jour les micro ordinateurs et leurs composantes (25%)

  • Installer, vİrifier et mettre   jour les logiciels et le matİriel ;

  • Rİsoudre les probl¨mes liİs aux micro-ordinateurs et leurs composantes ;

  • Recommander, installer et assurer l'entretien des serveurs et des micro-ordinateurs.

Assurer le fonctionnement des logiciels rİseau et de l'environnement informatique (15%)

  • Assurer la maintenance de l'infrastructure, des syst¨mes et des services informatiques essentiels aux opİrations de l'Universitİ ;

  • Fournir un soutien opİrationnel et technique aux syst¨mes institutionnels administratifs, acadİmiques, de sİcuritİ informatique et d'affaires ; appuyer la mise en Ċ“uvre des politiques et procİdures en technologies de l'information; Appliquer les politiques d'utilisation des syst¨mes informatiques ;
