JOB OVERVIEW

PATIENT INFORMATION



  • Patient Demographics: Adult females (OB/GYN patients)

  • Case Mix: Low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, GYN emergencies


FACILITY INFORMATION



  • EMR System: Epic

  • Specialty Backup Available: OB/GYN physician and CNM

  • Support Staff Available: RNs, CNM


PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE



  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

  • Credentialing Timeline: 120 days


REQUIRED PROCEDURES



Obstetrics Procedures:


  • Low Risk Pregnancy (history of twins, toxemia, pyelonephritis, etc.)

  • High Risk Pregnancy (toxemia, diabetes, Class II or higher cardiacs, chronic lung problems, chronic renal disease, etc.)



Labor and Delivery Procedures:


  • Routine delivery vaginal, low forceps, decision-making for C-section

  • Complicated delivery C-section, breech, multiple births, abruptions, etc.

  • VBACs

  • Repair of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations



Gynecology Procedures:


  • Laparoscopic diagnostic/minor only tubal ligation, LOA's, chromal tubation

  • Surgical gynecology open


JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Board: BC/BE in OB/GYN

  • Licenses: Active Ohio license or willingness to obtain

  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS

  • Other Qualifications: Self-Query NPDB report required


Duties & Responsibilities



  • Provide laborist physician coverage on L&D unit from 7a-7p

  • Manage low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, including vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and VBACs

  • Perform gynecologic emergency coverage for unassigned patients

  • Provide call coverage for midwife from 7p-7a as needed

  • Document patient care in Epic EMR and collaborate with RNs and CNM
