Position: Medical Records Specialist


Description:


Summary of position:






Performs a variety of clerical duties involved in maintaining patient medical records to include retrieving and distributing medical records, reporting, and maintaining associated logs and records in accordance with established priorities and procedures in any section of the Medical Record Department.


Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Verify patient demographics from scanned electronic test requisition forms (TRF) and test results.

  • Report out test results (mail, fax, email, internet, etc.) per Client Reporting Preference. All results reported to physicians and patients with-in 24-48 hours guideline.

  • Submit Jitbit tickets to sales for new client account set-up when needed.

  • Answer emails from internal and external clients and follow up accordingly.

  • Reprint results when needed or send reprint requests.

  • Manage time appropriately. Be able to interact with other company departments, such as billing, international sales, domestic sales, and customer service relations. Medical Records staff must be able to get results to physicians in a timely manner; striving for 24 hours from the time laboratory staff releasing results into the department to date reporting the requisitions.

  • Comfortable with company changes in policies and procedures.

  • Perform daily tasks, meet daily and monthly goals, which are subject to change.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.











Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Proficient in information management programs and Microsoft Office software with an aptitude to learn new systems and procedures.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

  • 10% or fewer mistakes and 45 WPM (9500 KPH).



Education and Experience:



  • One to Three years of clerical experience and high school diploma. Associate degree (A.A.) in Business a plus.

  • Prefer courses in data entry, laboratory procedures and client care.



Physical Requirements:



  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.











Compensation details: 20-21 Hourly Wage
