Description: System Engineer Department: Systems Engineering & Administration Reports To: Director of Branch Services Employment Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Position Summary The System Engineer is responsible for implementing, supporting, and maintaining client and internal infrastructure across server, virtualization, and cloud environments. This role serves as an escalation point for advanced technical issues and supports project delivery by executing defined designs and standards. The System Engineer works closely with systems administrators, network engineers, and senior engineers to ensure reliable and secure systems operation. Primary Focus - Advanced systems administration and infrastructure support
- Execution of defined infrastructure projects and changes
- Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical escalation support
- System stability, performance, and security
- 80% Project based work, 20% escalated support work
- Up to 20% travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities Systems Engineering & Operations - Administer and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments
- Support virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V
- Apply patches, updates, and firmware following change management standards
- Monitor system health and performance and remediate issues proactively
Troubleshooting & Escalation - Resolve advanced technical issues escalated from systems administrators and support teams
- Troubleshoot issues related to servers, identity, storage, backups, and core services
- Engage vendors and senior engineers as required to resolve complex issues
Project Support & Execution - Assist with and execute infrastructure projects such as server upgrades and migrations
- Implement solutions based on architecture and design provided by senior engineers
- Document configurations, procedures, and project updates
Documentation & Collaboration - Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, and SOPs
- Collaborate with network engineers, administrators, and project teams
- Communicate technical details clearly to internal teams and customers
Required Skills & Experience - Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
- Experience with virtualization platforms and backup solutions
- Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills across infrastructure components
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Experience & Qualifications - Typically 3-6+ years of experience in systems administration or engineering roles
- Experience in MSP or multi-environment support models preferred
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, VMware) are a plus
