Darlington
ss88-ss115 per day
Full-time 08:30 - 16:00
Start Date: ASAP / Post-Easter 2026 / September 2026
Contract: Temporary (until July 2026)

Are you a motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive individual looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people?

We are currently recruiting passionate Teaching Assistants to join a highly supportive SEN school in Darlington on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to build strong relationships with pupils and contribute positively to their learning, development, and overall wellbeing.

About the School
  • A well-established and inclusive SEN school based in Darlington

  • Supports pupils aged 2-19, with opportunities across both primary and secondary phases

  • A collaborative and supportive working environment, with a strong leadership team

  • Staff work closely together to provide consistent, high-quality support for all learners

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs

  • Support learners with needs including ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD, and SEMH

  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities

  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

  • Work closely with class teachers and wider staff to understand individual learning needs

  • Provide personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times

About You

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Experienced in working with children in UK school settings

  • Ideally qualified in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or a related field (desirable)

  • Confident in building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

  • Resilient, proactive, and adaptable in a dynamic environment

  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs

Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Two professional references covering the last two years (child-related)
