Position: Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant

Description:

Are you a highly motivated and experienced sports enthusiast who is passionate about working with children and young people with special educational needs (SEN)? If so, our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking school in Blyth, Northumberland, is seeking a full-time Sports Coach and SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.

In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to combine your love of sports and coaching with your compassion and patience for working with SEN students. Our client is looking for a versatile and adaptable individual who can not only lead engaging and inclusive sports sessions, but also provide invaluable support in the classroom and across the school.

As the successful candidate, you will play a vital part in our client's mission to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. Your infectious enthusiasm and expertise in a range of sports will inspire our students to develop their physical skills, teamwork, and confidence, while your empathy and understanding of SEN will ensure that every child receives the personalised support they need to succeed.

Your typical day might involve leading a lively PE lesson, where you'll challenge and encourage students to push their boundaries and reach new heights. You might then support a small group of SEN students in the classroom, assisting with their learning and providing one-on-one guidance as needed. Throughout the day, you'll work closely with the teaching staff to ensure a seamless and cohesive approach to supporting the students' overall well-being and development.

To excel in this role, you'll need to be a true team player with excellent communication skills. You'll be comfortable working alongside teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement personalised strategies for each student. Your ability to adapt your coaching style to suit the diverse needs of our students will be crucial, as will your genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

In return for your hard work and dedication, our client is offering a competitive daily rate of ss110 - ss120, as well as the opportunity to work in a vibrant and supportive school environment. With the chance to make a real impact on the lives of our students, this is an incredibly rewarding role that will challenge and fulfil you in equal measure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive sports sessions that cater to the diverse needs of our students
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for SEN students in the classroom, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement personalised learning strategies for SEN students
  • Assist with the organisation and supervision of school sports teams and after-school clubs
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and support
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity and empowers all students
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant coaching qualifications in a range of sports, such as a UKCC Level 2 or equivalent
  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably in a sports coaching or SEN support role
  • A demonstrated understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by SEN students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with diverse learners
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people

If you have the skills, experience, and enthusiasm to thrive in this dynamic position, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit your application today, and take the first step towards an incredibly fulfilling and meaningful career.
