Description: ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a locum tenens Gastroenterologist to provide hospital-based GI and 24-hour call coverage. This is a solo coverage assignment with no clinic responsibilities and no additional GI physician onsite during the assignment. General GI experience is required, and ERCP capability is highly preferred, with ERCP candidates prioritized. Dates / Schedule
November 23 November 29 (ending morning of November 30)
December 23 January 3 (ending morning of January 4)
Coverage Type: 24-hour call
In-House Requirement: 8 hours daily for hospital rounding and procedures
Rounding time is flexible and dependent on consult volume
No clinic coverage required
Solo locum coverage (no other Gastroenterologist onsite)
Job Details & Responsibilities
Provide hospital-based GI call coverage only
Manage hospitalized GI patients
Perform procedures and inpatient consults

Required Procedures:
Colonoscopy
Biopsy
Polypectomy
Proctoscopy / Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
Hemorrhoidal banding
Upper GI endoscopy
PEG placement
Esophageal variceal banding
Acute GI bleed management and lesion banding
Dilation
Highly Preferred: ERCP
Support & Environment:
Hospital call coverage only (no clinic)
RN and CRNA support in endoscopy
No NP support
No supervision of other providers
EMR: Epic
Credentialing timeframe: days
Required Skills & Qualifications
Board Certified in Gastroenterology
State license (active or pending accepted; IMLC considered)
BLS and DEA required
Clean malpractice history preferred
Self-Query NPDB report (dated within 30 days of presentation) required
Experience in General GI required
ERCP certification and recent case logs strongly preferred (case logs required at presentation and offer)
This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced Gastroenterologist comfortable with independent hospital call coverage and maintaining procedural proficiency, particularly in ERCP.
