Position: Nocturnist Physician


Description: Locations: Deaconess Henderson Hospital,
Deaconess Midtown Hospital and Deaconess
Gateway Hospital. Primarily staffing at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.









  • 53+ employed hospitalists in the group

  • Primarily staffing at Deaconess Henderson Hospital

  • One advanced practice provider (APP) supporting Deaconess Gateway Hospital

  • Program started approximately 23 years ago

  • Shifts are 12 hours in length

  • Swing shift available (1 pm 1 am) for admissions at Evansville campuses

  • 175 shifts/year (full-time); 7 on, 7 off schedule

  • Referral base includes ED visits, direct admissions and regional transfers

  • Robust subspecialty support

  • Procedures are not required for Deaconess Henderson Hospital primary nocturnist


  • Open ICU at each Campus



Average # of admissions per night:

- Henderson: 5 10 patients, plus
cross-cover/codes
- Midtown: 8 12 patients each, plus
cross-coverage/codes
- Gateway: patients each, plus
cross-coverage/codes
One nocturnist per night at
Henderson; two nocturnists per
night at Midtown and Gateway
