Travel / Locum Tenens 1099
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician for a locums assignment in West Virginia. This is a stable, predictable Emergency Department environment serving an adult-only federal patient population, offering full-scope Emergency Medicine without billing pressure or RVU requirements.
This opportunity is well-suited for physicians who value mission-driven care, consistent clinical expectations, and a lower medico-legal risk practice setting.
Practice Setting
- 24/7 Emergency Department coverage

Schedule & Coverage
Primarily 12-hour shifts
- Available shift times include:
- 7a 7p
- 8a 8p
- 9a 9p
- 10a 10p

- Minimum of one Emergency Medicine physician onsite at all times
- No call required
- Providers must be able to backfill absences within 2 hours if a scheduled physician cannot complete a shift
Scope of Practice
Physicians will practice full-spectrum Emergency Medicine, including:
- Medical and trauma resuscitation
- Central lines, chest tubes, intubation, cardioversion
- Moderate and deep procedural sedation
- Fracture and dislocation reduction
- Psychiatric emergencies
- Stabilization and transfer of higher-acuity cases
Approximately 95% direct patient care and 5% administrative duties (documentation, QA, meetings).
Requirements
- BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
- Any unrestricted U.S. state medical license accepted
- DEA required
- ACLS & BLS required
- Ability to meet federal credentialing and privileging standards
- Completion of required annual training modules
Contract Details
Base term: February 1, 2026 July 31, 2026
Extension: One additional 6-month option available
Compensation
$200 $240/hour (1099)
