Description:
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medical Director will provide leadership, oversight and support for the development of a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care, identifying opportunities, building relationships and executing on strategies to drive the performance and measured improvement of ICU and Pulmonary Operations and perform all needed tasks necessary to provide efficient, high-quality patient care. Responsible in tandem with operations and nursing officers for the administrative, financial and clinical performance of ICU Operations and the Schmidt Chest Clinic. Leads Physician/Advanced Practice Provider collaborations and defines and establishes care models that best meet patient's needs and Intermountain fundamentals. Ensures that evidence-based clinical care standards for ICU's are established and effectively implemented. Define and establish the care models that best meet the needs of pulmonary patients. Lead the strategic vision and physician component of critical care and pulmonary services at Intermountain Medical Center Responsible for execution of policies and procedures related to ICU environments and pulmonary clinic. Assists in educating compliance with appropriate standards required by all governmental agencies. Develop and maintain pulmonary and critical care credentialing and privileging criteria for hospital providers. Addresses inappropriate, unprofessional, or concerning behavior and communicate to hospital and service line leadership. Champions quality initiatives and policies. Develop, educate to, and drive results for key performance metrics in pulmonary and critical care (e.g., patient experience, CMS metrics, documentation metrics, complication rates) Complete academic faculty reviews as Department Chair and collaborate closely with Medical Director of Acute Care Research to support needs of academic and research operations. In conjunction with graduate medical education leadership, work to ensure high-quality, effective, and appropriate educational experience for learners. Regularly attends committee meetings. Assists in quality reporting and effectively addresses performance concerns for providers, including peer review for cases within region Critical Care and ICU Operations. Maintain standards of Zero Harm. Conducts annual performance reviews/conversations for physician leaders within Pulmonary and Critical Care Operations organization. Maintains an environment of collegiality with consultants as well as in-patient caregivers. Establishes professional standards for physicians within pulmonary and ICU services. Promotes employee engagement. Address capital needs of Pulmonary and Critical Care. Develops and maintains operational, financial, and fundamentals of extraordinary care metrics. Collaborates with the system Pulmonary and Critical Care and Operations for strategic and best practice development and implementation. Ensures alignment of with the Intermountain System Pulmonary and Critical Care Operations. Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. Education must be obtained through an ACGME or AOA accredited institution. Degree will be verified. ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification in Pulmonary or Critical Care. Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure. At least three years of clinical experience working in a critical care setting. Three years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings. Two years of progressive healthcare leadership experience. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Trained in improvement science. Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care). Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.
