Description: Teaching Assistant - SEMH Provision Location: Wigan Contract: Full-Time, Monday to Friday Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm Pay: ss95-ss110 per day Start Date: January About the Role We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support Worker to join a fantastic SEMH provision in Wigan. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with secondary-aged students who have complex emotional and behavioural needs, many of whom are on EHCPs and may be disengaged from mainstream education. You will work 1:1 with pupils, supporting their learning, emotional regulation, and social development in a safe and nurturing environment. The role requires patience, resilience, and the ability to stay calm when managing challenging behaviour, including both verbal and physical aggression. Key Responsibilities -
Provide classroom support across core subjects -
Work 1:1 with students to deliver tailored support -
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs -
Encourage participation, focus, and confidence in lessons -
Assist the class teacher with planning, resources, and routines -
Contribute to a calm, safe, and inclusive school environment -
Support pupils with emotional regulation and challenging behaviours Who We're Looking For -
Experience supporting children or young people (school, tutoring, youth work, care, coaching all welcome) -
Proactive, patient, and adaptable approach -
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff -
Strong communication and teamwork skills -
Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing -
