The Opportunity

Lesley University's Department of Natural Sciences and Math is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CMATH 1010 Making Meaning with Math, Spring Semester 2026, Fully in-person, on-campus





Course Description:


This course will focus on the importance of mathematics in the modern world. Topics will include logic and problem solving, dealing with data, modeling, and other real world applications. Students will enhance their ability to use concepts, procedures, and intellectual processes specific to quantitative reasoning. Students will also learn to have a versatile approach to solving problems. Each student will complete an individualized project to study a particular aspect of mathematics in further detail. Placement in/waiver from this class depends on SAT, ACT math, or Lesley Math Assessment scores.




Two sections of this course are available:




  • Mondays and Wednesdays 2:30 - 3:45 pm




  • Tuesdays and Fridays 11:10am - 12:25pm





Qualities and Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:




  • Master's degree in Mathematics (required)




  • Successful experience teaching mathematics courses at the undergraduate level




  • Experience in constructivist inquiry-based learning




  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
