Description: Electrical Administrator / Journeyman Electrician - Lower Kuskokwim School District (Rural Alaska) Take your electrical career to the next level in one of the most unique and rewarding environments in the country. The Lower Kuskokwim School District is seeking a licensed Electrical Administrator / Journeyman Electrician to oversee and support district facilities across remote villages in southwest Alaska. This role combines technical expertise, supervisory leadership, and energy management responsibilities to ensure safe, reliable, and code-compliant facilities for students and staff. Key Responsibilities: Review blueprints and specifications for construction projects ranging from minor renovations to major new facilities Conduct walk-through inspections of new construction for code compliance and quality workmanship Perform substantial and final inspections on construction projects and provide written reports to leadership Personally inspect and supervise electrical projects as required under Alaska Statute AS 08.40.195 Coordinate and direct the district's energy management program, including developing and implementing energy-saving initiatives Monitor and report on general building maintenance and equipment issues Carry out additional related duties as assigned Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED (required) Current State of Alaska Electrical Administrator's license (inside wiring, inside communications, and residential wiring) Current Certificate of Fitness as a Journeyman Electrician Certification desirable through the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) or International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (required) Four years of supervisory experience in maintenance operations with demonstrated skill in installation, repair, and modification of electrical systems Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and engineering terminology Thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, National Fire Protection Act, and State of Alaska/local codes Strong written communication skills with the ability to originate reports Ability to travel to remote villages by small plane, occasionally staying overnight in school facilities while projects are completed Commitment to working successfully in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment Benefits We Offer: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance Employer-paid life insurance Participation in the State of Alaska Retirement Plan Paid time off (vacation and sick leave) Free gym membership at the district facility in Bethel Opportunities for professional growth and advancement Why Join LKSD?
