You would serve as a vital member of the care team, providing emotional and spiritual support across diverse faiths and belief systems in a dynamic hospital setting. Benefits: This is not a benefited position. This would be a contract with the hospital on an as-needed basis. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emotional and spiritual care to patients, families, and staff across all belief systems. Respond to emergencies, traumas, deaths, and critical incidents as part of the hospital's 24/7 care team. Facilitate religious rites, prayer, sacraments, or spiritual rituals as requested. Offer grief, bereavement, and end-of-life support. Support staff through counseling, debriefings, and wellness programs. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree preferred. Certification by a recognized chaplaincy or crisis management organization is preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of pastoral care experience required. Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and crisis intervention skills. Ability to provide inclusive, non-judgmental spiritual care across diverse cultures and belief systems. On-call availability, including nights, weekends, or holidays as required. Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds. ENVIRONMENT The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The environment is primarily indoors with light to moderate physical demands and frequent emotional intensity. The role requires flexibility, mobility throughout the facility, and the ability to maintain presence and composure in high-stress, emotionally charged situations. The position requires a moderate amount of mobility. The ability to reason, speak and have basic manual dexterity is essential. Physical demands are mild and may include sitting or standing for prolonged periods, walking, stooping and occasional lifting. This position may have exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and emotional trauma, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and emotional resilience.
