Position Summary:



The Sanitation Crew Lead will work with the hourly sanitation employees in ensuring cleaning of the plant production equipment and facility meets food safety, customer quality, and worker safety requirements. Ensuring the team performs responsibilities set forth.




Key Responsibilities:




  • Comply with food safety and quality assurance standards (GMP, HACCP, FSI, SQF, etc.)

  • Maintain plant cleanliness to prepare plant to pass USDA/SQF and other sanitation audits

  • Sanitizing all surfaces nightly post clean for production runs

  • Interior infrastructure cleaning of production and non-production areas.

  • Follow all Safety Guidelines and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); assist with identification and reporting of safety issues and areas and equipment requiring non-routine attention.

  • Safety use required chemicals as indicated in the work instructions.

  • Clean in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Clean framework of machines, overhead rafters and pipe work, deep clean in specified areas, tear down and set up equipment and complete other assigned tasks as required on master sanitation schedule and following proper procedures to prevent equipment damage and to assure the equipment is cleaned properly.

  • May operate equipment to maintain clean floors throughout the building and production areas removing dirt, and other debris.

  • Verify effectiveness of cleaning.

  • Participating in Pre-Operation inspections of the equipment after the clean to ensure rooms are able to be released for production.

  • Attend training as required.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.

  • Will be utilizing hand held walkies, as well as forklift, and lifts (must be trained).

  • Performs other duties as assigned including housekeeping and/or janitorial tasks including trash/waste removal, facility grounds keeping activities, etc.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.




Knowledge & Experience:




  • H.S. Diploma or GED desirable but not required.

  • Possess a sense of urgency and attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Capable of communicating both orally and in writing with people at all organizational levels.

  • Capable of managing a variety of tasks simultaneously with rapidly changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work productively and effectively as part of a team.

  • 1 year lead experience required.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

  • Forklift (stand-up), walkie rider experience a plus.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Must have knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs.



Working Conditions:




  • Will be working with water (cold and hot) and potential of getting wet due to dealing with cleaning items and hoses.

  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of job as needed (i.e. bending, stooping, squatting, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, crouching, standing, sitting)

  • Must be able to inspect equipment and processing areas using sensory abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week.

  • Varied temperature environment (hot/cold/humid).

  • Must be flexible and able to work as needed: our sanitation team may work Saturdays and Sundays depending on production schedules.

  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.

  • Must have full knowledge of product line.

  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).




Pay range for this position is $21.00 to $25.00 an hour depending on experience.

There is also a potential for a discretionary bonus this bonus is based on personal & company performance and is not a guaranteed bonus plan.
