Lakeland Community Church seeks to build a community of authentic followers of Jesus here in Lee's Summit. We are called to be indigenous suburban missionaries who help families in our area find belonging as they become who they are in Jesus. Coming from a variety of denominational backgrounds, we value a diverse expression of worship that is deeply rooted in the contemplative tradition. Our approach to music in worship is modern while also being anchored in historic Christian practices and liturgies.
Worship is a vibrant part of our mission, drawing on a wide range of creative and visual art supported by current technology. Our worship is intentionally theologically grounded, yet designed to be fun and energetic; we don't take ourselves too seriously. The Worship Arts Director leads and stewards our creative teams, empowering them to minister to our family-centric suburban context. We create experiences that empower our families and encourage them to invite friends to join in.
The primary values of the Worship Arts Director can be divided into three areas of focus: leadership, creativity, and stewardship. Leadership applies to the greatest resource of the church: its people. The primary focus of this Director is empowering the people of God to serve in the church. The second area of focus is creativity. The Worship Arts Director will endeavor to be a pacesetter for creativity in the arts. As we are made in God's image, we believe beauty points us back to God; therefore, creativity is central to authentic worship of God. The Worship Arts Director will partner with the pastoral staff to bring creativity in various forms to Lakeland's worship culture. Finally, the Worship Arts Director serves as the primary steward of money, equipment, and physical space related to the Sunday Morning Adult Service and art. |
