Position: Laboratory Operations Technician |
Description: Lab Operations Technician / Contract position, Milpitas, CA / Onsite / 3 months, extendable / $25-35/hr. W2 Pay Rate Summary: The Lab Operations Technician will ensure the lab is clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols. You will work closely with engineering teams to manage tools, parts, shipping/receiving, and equipment setup. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in order, efficiency, and safety, and wants to be part of an innovative robotics environment. Responsibilities: Maintain lab organization: unpack, label, and store shipments; break down boxes; keep walkways clear. Manage tool and equipment storage, ensuring items are returned and properly maintained. Support shipping and receiving of parts, including tracking and documentation. Assist with assembly area setup, basic equipment moves, and lab reconfiguration. Implement and enforce lab safety and cleanliness standards (e.g., clear floors, safe storage of chemicals/electronics). Coordinate with engineers on supply needs and help maintain inventory of consumables (fasteners, wires, PPE, etc.). Perform light facility maintenance (changing bulbs, moving benches, organizing cables, etc.) and coordinate with outside vendors when needed. Proactively identify and resolve clutter or safety issues. Required Skills: Previous experience in a lab, workshop, warehouse, or facilities role preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfort with tools, shipping/receiving, and light maintenance tasks. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and move equipment safely. Self-starter with a proactive approach - you see a mess and fix it without being asked. Interest in robotics, hardware, or engineering environments is a plus, but not required. Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
