Job Description: The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) is the first of its kind in the nation; uniting people, technology and knowledge to address the challenges of the 21st century. ETEC is the $180M research, instructional and entrepreneurial complex in which CEHC resides, providing our faculty state of the art laboratory and teaching spaces. CEHC seeks applicants in the Information Sciences & Technology Department (IST) for a Lecturer in Library and Information Services. The candidate will teach courses across core areas of information science, including but not limited to organizational leadership, research strategies, information environments, and public policy. The candidate will provide service to the IST Department, College, and University and may also facilitate graduate/undergraduate interdisciplinary research projects; and help lead co-curricular activities. Applicants must provide evidence of library and information science in their existing teaching program, with a focus on topics such as those above, and/or closely related subjects. Applicants must have experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in library and information science, in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/or hybrid) and address their plan to contribute to the MSIS and Informatics LIS curriculum. Functional and Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Department Chair Supervises the following positions: N/A May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling position) Job Requirements: Strong understanding of library and information science principles and practices. Excellent communication and presentation skills for effective teaching. Ability to integrate technology into library science education. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: MA, MS or PhD in Information Science, Library Science, Archival Science, Informatics, Education, English, History or a closely related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 8/15/26. Candidates who do not hold a degree by this date will not be considered. 3+ years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in library and information science or related field. Evidence of teaching in multiple modalities (in-person, online, and hybrid). Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in student mentoring and/or co-curricular activities for student success. 1+ years of experience with a wide range of information tools, including various library systems (e.g. ILS, LMS), digital asset management platforms, metadata editors, research databases, and/or data management/visualization software. 1+ years of experience with assessment tools for evaluating student success and program effectiveness Demonstrated experience in curricular development in the MSIS program and/or the undergraduate informatics concentration in Library and Information Services. Demonstrated experience in designing and revising curricula that integrate emerging trends and technologies (e.g., AI, data literacy, open access).
