Position: Maintenance Apprenticeship

POSITION SUMMARY


As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop skills in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of equipment and facilities under the guidance of experienced professionals. This 2-year program combines hands-on training with classroom instruction, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in maintenance.

Essential Functions Statement(s)


• Assist maintenance personnel in performing routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and overhauls of equipment and facilities.


• Learn and master various maintenance skills, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry.


• Participate in classroom instruction and training sessions to enhance technical knowledge.


• Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.


• Work effectively with maintenance team members to achieve department goals.


• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively, meeting quality and productivity standards.


• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and reports


• Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.


• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.


• Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.


• Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.


• Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.


• Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair


• Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.


• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.


• Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.


• Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.


• Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse in order to maintain machinery and work areas.


• Know and follow Miller Poultry Lock Out/Tag Out procedures


• Know all plant rules and GMP's


• Knowledge of safety rules


• Knowledge of first aid program


• Must know and pass all tests for: Confined Space Entry, Hot Work Permit program, pallet jack, forklift, and scissor lift, and LOTO


• Must know animal welfare rules


• Able to perform NELS checks

SKILLS & ABILITIES


Education: High school diploma or equivalent


Experience: No prior experience required; willingness to learn and adapt


Computer Skills:
