Description:

Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations.






SCHEDULE


Monday - Thursday 8:30AM - 12:30PM


Friday 8:30AM - 12:00PM






SUMMARY


Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Driver for a homeless shelter in Smithtown. The Driver will transport clients in an agency vehicle to necessary appointments and to meet basic needs. The Driver will be responsible for the coordination of picking up food donations from other agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • The Driver will enforce rules, regulations, and policies of shelter.

  • Transport clients to DOL, DSS, and other necessary appointments.

  • Enforce the use of safety belts in the vehicle and that all children are in appropriate car seats.

  • Coordinate with LICARES, Island Harvest, and other agencies to pick up donations weekly.

  • The Driver will perform daily vehicle safety checks and report any issues to the Assistant Program Director.

  • Complete monthly vehicle logs and submit them to the Assistant Program Director.

  • Ensure vehicles have up to date registration and insurance.

  • The Driver will maintain routine maintenance of the vehicle.

  • Address any issues of safety in the vehicle and remove any dangerous items.

  • Set and observe appropriate boundaries with clients; observe client confidentiality and HIPPA protocols.

  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.

  • Collaborate with Security to discuss and resolve client incidents.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Each employee is responsible for reading and understanding the Policy and Procedure Manual.






QUALIFICATIONS


High School Diploma or equivalent required.


Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children and families required.


Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required.


Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.


Bilingual in Spanish preferred.


Valid and clean NYS Driver's License required.




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


Must be able to get on and off the agency van.






Compensation details: 18.5-18.5 Hourly Wage
