Position: Structural Engineer |
Description:
Universal Design Associates is seeking candidates who are already authorized to work in the United States and do not require current or future visa sponsorship. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates within a commutable distance to Ferdinand, Indiana.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in structural engineering and a passion for creating safe, efficient, and innovative designs. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing structural portions of projects from conception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural components for buildings, including but not limited to foundations, beams, columns, walls, and slabs.
- Review and evaluate existing structures.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.
- Review shop drawings, perform site observations, and provide technical support during construction.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Structural)
- Must have or be pursuing Fundamentals of Engineering license (F.E.)
- Professional Engineer license (P.E.) preferred but not required
- Structural Engineering license (S.E.) a plus but not required
- Experience in structural design and analysis preferred but not required
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software preferred by not required (e.g., Robot, ENERCALC, STAAD.Pro, or similar)
- Proficiency in CAD software preferred but not required (e.g., AutoCAD and/or Revit)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred but not required (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations preferred but not required (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC, AISI, NDS, ASCE, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
