Position: Gynecology - Oncology Physician Assistant


Description: Shift Schedule: FT / 40hrs per week (Mon-Fri; 8hr shifts, flexible hours)


Description:

  • Worksite Setting: Outpatient

  • EMR: EPIC

  • Manage a large panel of patients undergoing active chemotherapy in collaboration with a skilled team.

  • Perform chemotherapy clearance evaluations, assess toxicity, and adjust/sign chemotherapy plans as needed.

  • Provide surveillance for gynecologic malignancy if trained in women's health.

  • Act as a physician extender in a busy gynecologic oncology clinic.

  • Assess postoperative patients and triage patient calls, providing same-day evaluations if necessary.

  • Collaborate with the infusion unit for urgent patient care needs on active treatment.

  • Provide a broad range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, including initial assessment and ongoing medical care.

  • Work independently as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.

  • Take medical histories, examine patients, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, formulate diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribe medications, and monitor responses to medications, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Document clinic notes and notify attending physicians of significant problems.

  • Order referrals to specialists as needed and respond to emergency situations, including infusion reactions.

  • Counsel patients on preventive care and health issues.

  • Educate patients, guardians, and various health care staff members about disease processes and treatment plans.

  • Communicate changes in patient well-being, treatment plans, medication side effects, and appropriateness of daily activities to outside health care staff and community providers.

  • Obtain prior authorization and attend multidisciplinary tumor board meetings, following up with patients on plans of care.

  • Perform any related duties as required.

Certifications Requirements:

  • Active CT license; BC; PA accreditation or the APRN must hold certification as either an ACNP, FNP, or AGACNP; DEA, CSR, BLS.

  • Additional requirements: Chemotherapy/immunotherapy experience is mandatory. Women s health experience is a plus. 2+ years experience GYN/ONC preferred.
