Join our high-performing engineering team focused on the design and development of advanced hydro-mechanical and pneumatic control systems. This role involves leading the definition of system architecture and translating performance objectives into well-structured component requirements, using physics-based modeling and analysis. You'll contribute to cutting-edge aerospace systems by driving technical excellence from concept through realization. Key Responsibilities
- Lead system-level analysis and define component requirements with a focus on performance, weight, packaging, and cost constraints.
- Develop innovative solutions to resolve trade-offs between conflicting system requirements.
- Contribute to intellectual property efforts by documenting and protecting novel designs.
- Design critical components and subsystems for functional systems and advanced prototypes.
- Perform engineering hand calculations to support system modeling and performance analysis.
- Develop robust technical justifications and substantiations for system and component design decisions.
- Translate customer needs into clear, traceable component and system requirements.
- Solve complex engineering challenges using solid principles, analytical thinking, and creative problem-solving.
- Participate in and present technical content at design reviews; collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering, and project management.
- Ensure all engineering documentation meets export control and data management standards.
- Work effectively in team environments, incorporating feedback and coordinating across stakeholders.
- Adhere rigorously to design and development processes to deliver reliable, safe, and certifiable aerospace products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or 5 years with a Master's degree.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM environments.
- Experience using IBM Rational DOORS for requirements management.
Technical Expertise and Experience
- Deep understanding of system-level requirements, flowdown, and traceability through hierarchical architecture.
- Skilled in deriving component requirements based on system-level needs and performance analysis.
- Awareness of how changes at the component level impact broader system performance.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to product safety and reliability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface at all organizational levels.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across the product lifecycle.
- Knowledge of aerospace-relevant materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance, a clearance active within the past five years, or the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Experience
- Conducting system and component-level trade studies.
- Planning and executing system-level design tests, analyzing results, and refining system performance.
- Advanced experience with:
- Modeling & Simulation Tools: Dymola, MATLAB/Simulink
- Documentation & Analysis Tools: Visio, Excel (including VBA scripting)
