Position Description !


RICE Services Inc., (A 100% employee-owned ESOP) is looking to hire an organized, professional entry level Payroll Admin to join our team.



Fulltime position, Monday through Friday



Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM







WORK EXPERIENCE



  • Strong Excel skills

  • Construction industry experience a plus

  • Experience with prevailing wage a plus, not a requirement. Willing to train.•

  • Prior payroll experience a plus, not a requirement. Willing to train







SUMMARY:


The Payroll Administrator supports the Payroll Supervisor and Payroll Department by maintaining all


employee documentation and auditing weekly timecards for discrepancies and errors to be corrected


for all labor hours for hourly, salary, and piecework employees. This position is highly detail and


organization focused to maintain consistent and accurate record-keeping for the payroll department in


accordance with company policy, federal, and state laws.











KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS



  • Detail and deadline oriented; must be organized with an ability to multi-task in a fast- paced high volume environment.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel;

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff, management, and employees;

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually;

  • Must guarantee confidentiality across all aspects of the position

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines.



Duty and Responsibilities



  • Coordinate and maintain all employee and payroll related documentation for prevailing wage projects.

  • Audit weekly timecards and get approval for any discrepancies;

  • Maintain employee payroll files and update data with salary or wage adjustments;

  • Process employee form/verbal verifications and post to file;

  • Generate reports for Accounting, HR, and other departments as needed.

  • Respond to inquiries from all personnel in a timely manner and assist in explaining time sheets to personnel as needed or requested;

  • Other payroll duties, as assigned

  • Computer literate with proficiency with Microsoft Office and related spreadsheets and database software.

  • Must be able to deal effectively with builder representatives, field staff, and other departments.

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality







PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
