WOOD COATINGS COLOR SPECIALIST/ PAINT MIXER






We are seeking a wood coatings specialist who has experience color matching, mixing paints, wood finishes, and other industrial coatings. The candidate should have experience documenting and maintaining formulas; follow procedures to ensure quality and color accuracy; and have the aptitude to be able to resolve finish problems. Exceptional customer service skills are a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  • Work and communicate directly with business owners, finish managers, painters, purchasing agents, and designers.

  • Prepare paint orders, including mixing, utilizing standard formulas and custom formulas.

  • Clean and maintain all areas and equipment as assigned. Ensure calibration of mixing equipment as needed.

  • Conduct self in professional manner to ensure customers' quality and service expectations are met.

  • Perform paint mixing and/or shading with utmost care to minimize errors.

  • Maintain Color Room records including non-conformance report, tint usage, can usage, mis-tints, etc. and perform necessary inventory transfers.



ADDITIONAL DUTIES:



  • Know and perform duties of other store personnel as assigned.

  • Assist with inside customer service, as needed, including servicing customers and/or processing their orders.

  • Answer telephone in a professional manner, answer questions knowledgeably and/or take customers order.

  • Properly dispose of waste cans and product in compliance with in compliance with Company and Governmental regulations.

  • Assist staff with periodic or annual branch/satellite inventories.

  • Special projects as assigned.





Requirements:


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Employee is required to lift and carry approximately 25 - 50 lbs. frequently and 75 - 100 lbs. on occasion. The employee will spend approximately 20% of the time sitting, 60% standing, 10% walking, 10% stooping, climbing and kneeling. In those stores where the employee is required to mix paint, the employee must be able to perceive color differences and wear safety equipment as required. Must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors. Employee must be able to operate lift truck and hand truck. In those stores where employees may be required to make deliveries, the employee must be licensed and able to operate a car or truck.







TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:


Listed below are the minimum training requirements necessary to become certified in this position.


Required Courses - Right-to-Know Training


Recommended Courses - Product Training Program



  • Product & Color Adjustment Course

  • DOT Regulation Training

  • Hazardous Waste Training


Attend various manufacturer training seminars and/or training schools. Seminars may be conducted after normal business hours. Training schools may require overnight travel up to five (5) days.







OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


Ability to work all scheduled hours as needed. Must have ability to understand architectural and paint pigment variations/characteristics, tinting, application process. Employee must be licensed and able to operate vehicle in accordance with state law including commercial driver's license if required. If usage of employee's own vehicle is required for company business, employee must obtain appropriate insurance per Company Policy. Must have acceptable driving record from State Motor Vehicle Bureau.
