Position: Surgery - Neurosurgery Physician Assistant |
Description: Facility in Detroit, MI seeking Neurosurgery APP locums coverage Rates: $140/hr Facility in Detroit, MI, is seeking a skilled and experienced APP (NP/PA) to provide coverage from November 10 to February 10 during recruitment for permanent providers. Key Responsibilities:
- Inpatient hospital-based setting, covering rounding, consults, and postoperative care (no OR/First Assist or procedural duties required)
- Must be familiar with:
- Acute neurosurgical and stroke emergencies
- ICU care
- Elective neurosurgical procedures
- Postoperative management
- Hours: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., with weekend coverage once every 4 weeks
- Level 1 Trauma Center with Comprehensive Stroke designation
- Patient age range: 0 to 99
- Procedures: Simple suture for minor lacerations
Facility and Support:
- EMR: eCare/Cerner
- APP works autonomously; supervising physician is available off-site on-call 24/7
- Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: Emergency privileges approved
Requirements:
- Board Certified (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA) - REQUIRED
- Active MI license - REQUIRED
- Clean background - REQUIRED
- Certifications: BLS, ENLS, NIHSS
- MI DEA with verbal confirmation - REQUIRED
This role is ideal for an experienced APP with a solid understanding of neurosurgical patient care, particularly in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Candidates should be able to operate independently with off-site physician support.
