Job Description: Medical Referral Specialist






Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. (CIFC) seeks to hire a full-time competent and compassionate Medical Referral Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Referral Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating referrals and authorizations with healthcare providers and insurance companies. You will also be responsible for ensuring that patients receive the necessary care and assistance they need.







Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate referrals and authorizations with healthcare providers and insurance companies

  • Communicate with patients and families to explain the referral process and answer any questions they may have

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and ensure that all necessary information is entered into the system accurately

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient referrals and authorizations

  • Build and maintain relationships with regional specialty offices

  • Execute referral protocols and documentation timely and accurately

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent (required)


- Associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred)


- 2+ years of experience working in a healthcare setting


- Strong communication and interpersonal skills


- Ability to work independently and as part of a team


- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail


- Proficiency with computer systems and software, including electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office Suite







Compensation details: 18-20 Hourly Wage
