Pathology Locums Job in Kentucky Great Location and Fall Coverage Opportunities



Details/Requirements for Assignment :
Board Certified or Eligible to sit for the boards within five years
Active Kentucky medical license or IMLC
Dates of coverage: October 10-18
Caseload is around 25 cases per day. (Approximately 6500 cases per year) - average cases on 61 surgicals, all gyn and non gyn cases currently are sent to Airpark and are processed and read there.
4-5 frozen section a week.
Types of cases: GI biopsies, GYN biopsies, skin biopsies, prostate biopsies, bladder biopsies, laryngeal biopsies, breast biopsies, lung biopsies (for tumor), appendix, tonsils, gallbladders, hernias, mastectomies, colon resections, hysterectomies (usually benign), amputations, placentas, peripheral blood smear reviews, occasionally thyroids, occasionally nephrectomies, occasionally orchiectomies, rarely prostatectomies
Types of cytology: only non-GYN cytology (pleural fluids, bronchial washings, BALs, urines, ascites fluid, EBUS specimens, FNAs) The only cytology done at Owensboro is adequacy on EUS, FNA, Bronchs, EBUS the specimen are sent to Airpark for processing and read out
There will be no other pathologists on site, but there will be nearby pathologists to consult if necessary
There will be one (1) histotech on site with 4 on staff in total
There are transcriptionists available to type all of your reports. They are off-site. The TAT is usually 2 hours or less (usually less). There on site transcriptionist as well as the off site transcriptionists daily
There are no cytotechs. The on site pathologist does all the adequacy. They are collected stain and brought to the pathologist office to be read.
The histotech will gross the small specimens. The large specimens go to Nashville to be grossed.
No grossing; No performing of or reading bone marrows.
Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 am 4:00 pm
Weeknight call required; weekend call TBD
