Job Overview

Reporting to the VP of Merchandising Strategy, the Editorial Content Director will be responsible for translating the merchandising vision & trend forecasts into product stories that engage and inspire the customer throughout all marketed touchpoints. The team is focused on promoting growth by driving customer acquisition and retention, style credibility, critical differentiation, and brand love and the Editorial Content Director is an integral part of this work. The Director will develop editorial content priorities and stories for CFOB marketing campaigns, leading the product curation for all non-promotional vehicles. The Editor will work closely with the Director of Trend Forecasting and Principals of Business Strategy. They will influence and collaborate cross functionally with Brand, Creative, Site Merchandising and Digital teams, leading the development of customer messaging through product curation that inspires and engages across all media types, with a digital first mindset. The ideal candidate will be able to connect product and brand strategies to culture, fashion, and consumer trends. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with the Director of Trend Forecasting to identify enterprise quarterly tentpole trends, must haves and product priorities to message across all media types and customer touchpoints.
  • Partner with the Principals of Business Strategy to validate tentpole trends and must haves for each quarter.
  • Lead OYS Hub and all Gift Guide product strategies and curation in partnership with the Brand, Marketing, Digital, Site Merchandising, Creative and DCA teams.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with the Social team to deliver paid and reactive content that supports merchandising priorities and delivers relevant trends.
  • Self-starter, curious, and keeps a pulse on market changes, new trends and consumer shifts in behavior.
  • Identify emerging trends through inspiration, competitive shopping, and having a pulse on cultural happenings .
  • Operates with ongoing curiosity about emerging fashion, marketing, travel, and street style trends through competitive analysis.
  • Establish best practices and processes for non-promotional contenting of marketing across all functions, with the ability to identify and action where efficiencies are needed.
  • Work with internal partners and cross-functional teams in both strategy formulation and execution phases of projects & initiatives.
  • Ability to understand, organize and communicate complex information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences.
  • Create Executive-level presentations and other materials as needed.
  • Analyze and comprehend marketing tactics to help guide decisions and scale best practices.
  • Synthesize key insights and formulate actionable recommendations.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • Ideally, 5-plus years of experience in retail, marketing, buying or an experience in an online and ecommerce merchandising environment.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (oral, written and listening) for a variety of audiences with the ability to influence.
  • Understands competitive marketplace and pursues white space opportunities that align with Company strategies.
  • Executes following a "Teams Win" philosophy, fostering a positive, collaborative environment.
  • High-energy, passionate, with proven track record of delivering result.
  • Self-driven with ability to work independently with limited day-to-day guidance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.
